- Susanna ATKIN the second daughter of Walter ATKIN and Catherine DREWwas born abt. 1787 (estimated from age at her death in 1822 ), at CloynePriest in the parish of Clonpriest, near Youghal, Co.Cork, Ireland.
In 1806 Susanna ATKIN married Richard Garde DAVIS Esq. There weretwo newspapers that announced the nuptials in their columns.

The above Deed between Walter ATKIN & Richard Garde DAVIS waspossibly an agrement on a marriage portion.
Richard Garde DAVIS and his wife Susanna DAVIS were witnesses to theDeed No. 665 243 458973 made between Walter ATKIN, Mary ATKIN eldestdaughter and Townsend BEAMISH dated 24th day of October 1807.
Richard Garde and Susanna DAVIS had nine children;
1. Henry Walter DAVIS baptised on the 3rd of December 1810.
2. Catherine Mary DAVIS baptised on the 28th of March 1812,Catherine Mary died at the age of 18months and was buried at St. Luke's,Douglas on the 12 August 1812.
3. John DAVIS baptised on the 9th of January 1812 at St. Luke'sChurch, Douglas.
4. Olivia DAVIS, baptised at St. Luke's Church on the 5th of Feb1815.
5. Eliza DAVIS born about 1817.(Estimated from age at death)
6. Helena DAVIS was baptised on the 25th of August 1818.
7. Walter Davis was born about 1819. (Estimated from age at death)
8. Susanna DAVIS baptised on the 5 December 1820.
9. Mary DAVIS baptised on the 1st of February 1822.
It is interesting to note that by 1822 the family had changed theirsurname to GARDE.
December 1822 was a dreadful month for the family. Five of thechildren and their mother Susanna died of measles and complications.

"Sacred to the memory of Susan Atkin Garde whodeparted this life on the 22nd (sic) December 1822 in the 36th year ofher age and to her husband Richard Davis Garde Esq. late of Rosehill inthis Parish who died on the 17th July 1855 aged 70 years. This tablet isplaced here by their son John Davis Garde Esq."
