Father’s Mother’s Family History Tree -
(Copied from a document typed up by Eileen Young, ~1950, which looks like the transcript of a letter sent to EY by one of her cousins)
About 200 years ago the first of the family arrived in Colmanstown, Co. Clare (This town land is on the Shannon, directly opposite Glin, Co. Limerick). He had been studying for the Priesthood and then gave it up and possibly fled from the wrath of his clan. He came from NW Cork – and the clan was a small and hardy one which spent most of its time fighting. He took to farming in West Clare and his son did likewise.
